Over the past several days, the Oregon Football schedule for 2026 and beyond has had a ton of moving pieces. On Wednesday, the Big Ten finally gave the Ducks fans something to look forward to, announcing the kickoff times and television networks for the 1st 3 games of the season, along with a window for the Big Ten opener against Northwestern.

On Tuesday, the Ducks had far bigger news as Oregon and Oregon State agreed to bring back the football series, scheduling games in 2028, 2029, 2031, and 2032. While it looked like the Ducks had started to figure out their future schedule, it turns out there were still pieces being moved around.

Oregon Football swaps future games with Baylor for Coastal Carolina

Included in Oregon's announcement regarding the kickoff times for the games this season were updates regarding the Ducks future schedule. On Wednesday, fans found out that Oregon and Baylor agreed to cancel their home and home series in the 2027 and 2028 seasons. The news likely is a because of the Ducks adding Oregon State to the schedule for the 2028 season thus making it difficult to fulfill the home and home.

While Oregon lost a game on the schedule for the 2027 season, the administration clearly had a plan in place. Included in that announcement was news that the Ducks would now face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on September 11th, 2027.

While the Ducks will no longer face an additional Power 4 opponent in 2027, the move may be best for the program. Oregon now faces an easier opponent on paper as teams continue to move toward a softer Non-Conference slate to avoid taking a loss that could keep them out of the 12 team College Football Playoff.

If the cost of getting the return of The Civil War in future years was losing a home and home series with Baylor, every fan would've taken it. The Ducks will get to face their in-state rival moving forward, after it looked like the series may disappear so while Oregon may look "soft" for canceling a series with Baylor, they added a series with real hatred in it's place.
