To be assured of making the College Football Playoff, the Ducks have to win a parlay. They need a win at home versus USC as a 9.5-point favorite, then they have to rally and focus their attention on a bitter rivalry matchup with the Huskies in Seattle, a tough place to play.

The game a week from now loses value if Oregon suffers an upset loss to the Trojans, as another loss sends them to the bottom of the two-loss teams in the CFB rankings, only mathematically alive for a place in the tournament.

Early betting lines for the second leg, UO versus UW in Husky Stadium, install the Ducks as 7.5-point favorites according to FanDuel. Some other sites have it at 7.5, but that's down from 11.5 at open.

The Moneyline is Oregon -280, Washington +225, with the over/under at 51.5, a lower-scoring game than any played in the series recently.

Huskies hit hard by injuries

The first variable in this bitterly contested clash (Washington leads the all-time series 63-49-6; Oregon is 21-9 since 1994.) is injuries. Denzel Boston leads the Dawgs in receiving with 52 catches for 730 yards and eight touchdowns; he sat out last Saturday's win over Purdue with a knee injury.

Lead running back Jonah Coleman injured his knee two weeks ago against Wisconsin and also sat out against the Boilermakers. In his absence, reserve RBs Jordan Washington and Adam Mohammed combined for 22 carries, 167 yards and four touchdowns against a Purdue defense that ranks 15th in the conference against the run.

The two stars are probable for the game at UCLA this weekend, though starting right tackle Drew Azzopardi is expected to miss his second straight game.

The 10-day weather forecast from the Weather Channel calls for a high of 48 a week from Saturday with a 48 percent chance of rain. TV time hasn't been selected yet, to be announced on Sunday with the likely windows being 12:30 on CBS or 4:30 on NBC.

The Huskies are out of the playoffs after a 13-10 loss at Wisconsin two weeks ago. If Oregon survives the Top 15 showdown with USC this weekend, they'd like nothing better than to knock out the Ducks.
