After an exciting run in the Big Ten Tournament end in such disappointment with the umpires making a controversial hit by pitch call, the Oregon Ducks waited to see their fate on Sunday Night. This year, the NCAA Tournament committee decided to announce the 16 National seeds on Sunday Night before Selection Monday.
The Oregon Baseball team came into the week hoping to host a regional. As the week went along the Ducks went from likely secure to needing a win or two to secure their fate. While the loss hurt given that the Ducks wouldn’t hoist the trophy, the bigger concern was that it could keep the Ducks from hosting a regional.
Oregon Baseball earns well deserved Regional Host status
All the concerns in the time between the end of the Big Ten Tournament, and the bracket reveal proved to be a waste of time as the committee revealed the Ducks were revealed as one of the 16 regional hosts for the NCAA Tournament.

Hosting status is well deserved as this team was clearly one of the best in the country for most of the season. Given that Oregon finished in the Top 16 of the RPI Rankings and had plenty of metrics in their favor, it would’ve been a disgrace if the Ducks weren’t rewarded.
The NCAA hasn't revealed the overall seed order meaning the Ducks will likely find out where they were ranked and which regional they're paired with on Monday's Selection Show.
Selection Monday will now be a relaxing day for the Ducks, as the only thing Oregon needs to worry about is which teams will be making the trip to Eugene. Given that the Ducks are likely one of the lowest-ranked regional hosts, Oregon will likely draw a really strong 2 seed, which will be the biggest challenge.
Getting to host a regional is a major advantage for the Oregon Ducks as the team has been incredible at home this season. The Ducks boast an incredible 23-5 record at home this season, and having the fanbase there to rally behind the team should be a major boost as this group tries to make their way to the College World Series.
