Mark Wasikowski and Oregon baseball added a pair of transfers Tuesday, a right-handed hitter with power and a fire-balling lefthanded pitcher.

At the outset it's a further indication that sports are alive and well at UO, on a day Texas A&M announced they were cutting 20% of their programs due to revenue-sharing constraints. "Football is king," they said.

Out in Eugene the Ducks nabbed a 6-4, 210 power hitter from Texas, Matt Scott II. Scott didn't play much for the Longhorns as a freshman, just four plate appearances, but coming out of high school he was a Top-200 prospect according to Perfect Game with a 6.59 60-yard dash.

As an outfielder with good speed and pop he becomes a candidate to replace Mason Neville, who is sure to go early in this year's Major League Baseball draft.

Scott has three years to play.

This afternoon Wasikowski, who has 28 years as a college baseball coach, sending 150 players to the MLB draft, picked up lefthanded pitcher
Miles Gosztola from Gonzaga.

With the Zags Gosztola threw 77.1 innings this season and struck out 74, walking 30. He's 6-3 with a fastball in the mid-90s, a 4-2 record and a 4.91 ERA in conference play.

At West Seattle High School as a senior he was Metro League MVP, an All-Freshman Team selection in the WCC in 2024.

He plays for the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod League in the summer. As a Seattle native his family had season tickets to the Mariners, growing up watching Felix Hernandez and Kyle Seager.

"I love this game. I'll pour everything I have into it," he said.

Just yesterday the Ducks added righthanded pitcher Blake Sandvik from Everett Community College.
