After an action packed Summer on the recruiting trail, the buzz in the 2027 recruiting cycle has slowed significantly for the Oregon Ducks. While a lot of the excitement slowed down, the Ducks still had one outstanding target left to reel in with linebacker Brayton Feister. Earlier in the Summer, Feister had a commitment date planned, but ended up postponing his decision.
Earlier this week, Brayton Feister finally set a commitment date making Friday an exciting day for the Ducks.The race for Feister was loaded with fierce competition between former Ducks DC Tosh Lupoi, the hometown Ohio State Buckeyes, and Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs who have a track record of developing linebackers that speaks for itself.
Oregon lands elite LB Brayton Feister as final piece to 2027 class
On Friday, Brayton Feister joined The Pat McAfee Show where he made his long awaited college decision. Despite the delays in the timeline and surges from other programs, Dan Lanning and the Ducks won out in the end, landing one of the Nation’s top linebacker recruits.

The in-state draw for Ohio State is always strong, and Kirby Smart proved to be a massive threat in this recruitment, but in the end the Ducks recruited Feister for a long time, and the relationships proved to be pivotal.
According to Rivals’ Industry Recruiting Rankings, Brayton Feister is the 130th ranked player in the Country, the 10th ranked linebacker in the class, and the 7th ranked player out of Ohio.Â
Oregon has built a loaded recruiting class at the linebacker position as Feister joins the Nation’s 77th ranked recruit and 6th ranked linebacker Toa Satele, 395th ranked Brandon Lockley Jr, and Oregon legacy recruit Sam Ngata. The addition will allow the Ducks to move a player like Satele into more of an outside linebacker role if the skillset is one that the coaching staff wants to tap into.
Given that almost every top recruit is already committed to a school, Brayton Feister could be the last player that the Ducks add to this class. While flips could still happen for or against Oregon, the class as a whole is beyond impressive, and should seal another top 5 ranked class for Dan Lanning.
The Ducks have built a dominant defensive identity under Dan Lanning, and recruiting wins like Feister will only continue that trend. If all stays the same, Oregon will sign 7 top 150 recruits on defense alone which is as big of a win as you could get for the coaching staff.
