The Ducks vaulted ahead of Miami, Georgia, Texas and Notre Dame in the AP Poll released Sunday, and surprising Illinois ranks 9th, giving the Big Ten Conference four out of The Top Ten after two weeks of college football.

After Dan Lanning's 2025 squad dominated in all phases in convincing wins over Montana State and Big 12 foe Oklahoma State they climbed two spots, behind only No. 1 and defending champion Ohio State, Penn State and LSU.

In the Coaches Poll the Ducks were fifth with Georgia at No. 3.

Oklahoma climbed five spots to No. 13. If the College Football Playoff started today, Oregon would have a first-round bye. This year the committee will use a straight-seeding model, slotting the top-four teams one through four regardless of conference.

Oregon still has just two ranked teams on their schedule, the Nittany Lions on September 27 and No. 2 Indiana at home after a bye on October 11. USC was among others receiving votes at the equivalent of 30th.

In late Big Ten action Saturday the Trojans beat Georgia Southern 59-20 while Washington hammered FCS UC Davis 70-10. Both 2-0, Oregon's two West Coast rivals are each making a bid to climb into the rankings before November games with the Ducks.

Overall the SEC placed 11 teams in the Top 25, the Big Ten six.
