Oregon's first-year women's soccer coach Tracy Joyner won Big West Coach of the Year honors in 2023 at UC Davis, and her last year there the team set a program record for wins at 13-5-2.
She coached the Aggies to four straight winning seasons before becoming head coach of the Ducks. As a player with Cal she made the All-PAC-10 team as a defender.
Joyner took on a rebuilding job in Eugene, a program that finished dead last in the league last season at 0-4-2, a tough thing to endure at a school where UO athletes are excelling in nearly every other sport.
Joyner remains the right coach for the job.
She told "Duck Insider" last week, "I'm someone who's never not going to believe. That's not in my DNA. That's not who I am."
"I'll never quit. I'll never stop believing. You have to step on to every single game believing that you're going to win. Otherwise you never will."
"That's the only thing I can consistently count on myself, that I would love to impart on my team is that you have to believe in yourself and you have to believe in your team."

Friday the Ducks lost 1-0 at USC after playing the Trojans to a draw in the first half. The team has struggled to score goals despite outshooting their opponents in six of their last seven games.
They travel to Ohio State on Thursday and Penn State on Sunday, both games on Big Ten+, returning to Pape Field for a home match against Wisconsin on October 16, a Stomp Out Cancer game at 6:00 p.m. PT.
