Oregon commit Rashad Streets earned 5-star status in the most unique fashion

The buzz on the recruiting trail has died down a ton for the Oregon Ducks as college football's official visit season has come to a close. The Ducks used the Summer to build out the 2027 recruiting class, using each official visit weekend to reel in commitment after commitment. While the Ducks are still looking for a few commitments to be decided, the easiest way for the class to improve is by the commits moving up the rankings.

After Rivals' recruiting ranking update earlier this month, wide receiver Dakota Guerrant was named a 5-star recruit which also earned him 5-star status in Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings. On Thursday, Dakota Guerrant was joined by another Oregon commit as a 5-star thanks to unique circumstances.

Rashad Streets earns 5-star status thanks to Texas commit

Coming into Thursday, Oregon commit Rashad Streets was a 4-star recruit ranked as the 33rd ranked player in the country which left him one place outside of the Top 32 recruits who earn "5-stars". On Thursday Afternoon, the Texas Longhorns made massive news when elite cornerback recruit John Meredith who was ranked as the 2nd best player in the class reclassified into the 2026 recruiting class.

The news has very little impact on the Oregon Ducks, except for the fact that it takes a 5-star recruit out of the rankings. The Nation's 2nd ranked player leaving the class allowed everyone to move up a place in the rankings, including Rashad Streets who is now a 5-star recruit according to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings.

Given that Rashad Streets is only moving up one place in the rankings, it isn't a massive leap for Streets, but he's a prospect who's deserved the credit of being a 5-star recruit. After racking up an absurd 41.5 sacks over the past two seasons, Streets deserved to earn the coveted 5th star, and he likely would've with another impressive season at the High School level.

Rashad Streets has been a cornerstone of Oregon's recruiting class, and the recent rise up the rankings only confirms what the coaching staff already saw in Streets. In the Fall, Streets will have a chance to continue building up his ranking like he has and will continue to do at the recruiting events and showcases.

The move will have it's biggest impact in helping Oregon try to keep it's streak of signing a top 5 ranked recruiting class alive, and it even helps give the Ducks a chance at the Nation's top class as two players now hold industry 5-star status.
