Oregon Ducks football rolls to win over the Washington Huskies
From the start of the game, it felt different. The Oregon defense was hungry and attacking from the start. The Ducks had a team record ten sacks in their 49-21 win over Washington. Dillon Gabriel had a rushing touchdown in the first half. Noah Whittington also started out the game with the Ducks' first score and Jordan James had two touchdowns in the first 30 minutes of play finishing the game with 99 yards.
The victory, unlike the last three games versus Washington, was decisive. On the first offensive drive of the game, Oregon had no trouble getting through the Huskies' defense for their first score of the game. While the Ducks offense took care of business, it was the Oregon defense that was more impressive.
With the return of Jordan Burch, the Ducks had 10 sacks in the game led by Burch with 2.5 sacks to go with 2.5 tackles for loss after nursing an ankle injury in recent weeks. The Ducks rush defense allowed just 43 yards for the game to the Washington Huskies on the ground. Running Back Adam Mohammed had 4 rushes for 23 yards.
In the most lopsided statistic of the game, Huskies QB Demond Williams Jr rushed for 17 yards on 22 attempts. He was impressive through the air completing 17 of 20 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown.
Oregon Quarterback Dillon Gabriel was efficient and the Ducks ground game was even better. Gabriel was 16 for 23 for 209 yards and a touchdown pass. He also had a score on the ground. The Ducks had 5 touchdowns on the ground to just two through the air. Tez Johnson also returned to the field vs Washington and had some key catches and a touchdown.
The Ducks now take the top ranking in the country for a road test in the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 7. After the dust settled on Saturday following Michigan's win over Ohio State, the Ducks face Penn State in Indianapolis on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. PT on CBS.
