Oregon Ducks News: Clark stumbles, Flowe surfaces, Caitlin out, Locklyn denied dismissal

Pro Duck Wyndham Clark struggles at Open Championship

Former U.S. Open champion and 2017 PAC-12 Champion Wyndham Clark fell 10 shots behind leader Brian Harman of the U.S. after shooting a 5-over 76 in his first round at the Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Ireland.

He's in danger of missing the cut, currently projected at +2. Clark tees off this morning at 7:21 a.m. PT. Earlier this week he was suspended by the Oakmont Golf Club, site of the 2025 U.S. Open in June, for damaging a locker after a frustrating round of play at the national championship.

American golfer Harman is the current leader at -7 as of this morning.

Justin Flowe finds a new home

A five-star prospect at linebacker in 2020, Justin Flowe has transferred to UNLV where he'll play for new head coach Dan Mullen.

The 6-2, 230 Flowe played at Oregon from 2020-2022 but struggled with injuries, transferring to Arizona in 2023. Coming out of Upland High School in Upland, California he was the No. 6 prospect and No. 1 linebacker in the country.

A Pickle becomes a Duck

Third baseman and outfielder Josh Schleichardt of Vanguard University announced a transfer to Oregon. Schleichardt batted .305 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI this season.

He tearing it up in the Northwest League for the Portland Pickles this summer, named the WCL Player of the Week June 16 after blasting five home runs and racking up 15 RBI during a stretch of 5-1 baseball for the Lents Park Club.

Caitlin Clark out for WNBA All-Star Game, 3-point contest

Teammate Lexie Hull will replace Caitlin Clark in tonight's 3-point shootout at the WNBA All-Star game weekend. Clark is out with a groin injury. Hull will compete with Sonia Citron (Washington Mystics), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Oregon star Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty) and Kelsey Plum (LA Sparks).

From the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the contest begins tonight at 5 p.m. PT on ESPN with the All-Star Game slated for Saturday at 5:30 on ABC. Former Duck Satou Sabally also earned an All-Star nod but she's out with an injury.

In 2023, Ionescu stunned the field in the 3-point competition with a record 37 points.

Carlos Locklyn denied dismissal in lawsuit with the Ducks

Judge Michelle Bassi denied a motion to dismiss in the breach of contract lawsuit between Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn and the University of Oregon, so the case will go to trial. James Crepea of the Oregonian reports on the story.

Crepea wrote, "The school is seeking damages of $400,000 from Locklyn for breach of contract, per his buyout for leaving Oregon for Ohio State last spring." The case will go to trial barring a last-minute settlement.
