Super West Sports Ranks the top D-linemen in the West, and they missed one
Super West Sports came out with a ranking of the top defensive linemen in college football in the western region, and they include two Ducks:
1—Matayo Uiagalelei, Oregon
2—Jayden Virgin-Morgan, Boise St
3—Trey White, SDSU
4—CJ Fite, ASU
5—Jehiem Oatis, Colorado
6—Bear Alexander, Oregon
7—Braylan Shelby, USC
8—Korey Foreman, Fresno St
9—Thomas Collins, Ore St
10—Tre Smith, Arizona
11—Clayton Smith, ASU
12—Solomon Tuliaupupu, Montana
Matayo Uiagalelei is rightly No. 1 after leading the Big Ten in sacks during the regular season with 10.5, but Alexander hasn't earned that sixth spot yet-- he's coming off a redshirt year after transferring.
In his best season in 2023 Alexander posted 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Trojans, far short of the potential he had as a four-star recruit at Georgia.
Teitum Tuioti plays an outside linebacker/defensive end hybrid role for the Ducks, but at 5.5 sacks and 58 tackles as a sophomore, he deserves to be listed somewhere. That's more production than most of the players listed.
Junior defensive tackle A'Mauri Washington, 6-3, 320, played in 14 games last year and he's a space-eater. D-line coach Tony Tuioti has said by the end of the year last year he was the Ducks' best interior lineman, stuck behind two veterans, a first rounder and a third rounder.
Come December, he'll be on everyone's list, near the top.
Saying good-bye to all-time favorite group of Ducks
This year's Oregon softball squad was truly memorable for their speed, defense and power, their entertaining style of play, and their togetherness and heart. After a loss to Oklahoma eliminated them from the College World Series, they said some truly touching good-byes.
Oregon Football Recruiting: Duck target Tommy Tofi commits to Cal
After a visit to one of the West's finest academic institutions and most downtrodden football programs, 6-6, 335 offensive lineman Tommy Tofi committed to the Cal Bears Monday.
From Archbishop Riordan across the Bay in San Francisco, Tofi had been scheduled for an Oregon visit this weekend, a lineman they coveted for his size and strength. His decision makes upcoming visits by Immanuel Iheanacho and Kelvin Obot more critical.
Iheanacho's coming off a successful visit to LSU, so the Ducks need to hit a home run with him on June 20, a weekend circled in red on the Oregon recruiting calendar with a number of high-profile visits.
