Oregon football recruiting: Ducks land 5-star edge rusher

He announced it with a plunge in Dan Lanning's pool.

Richard Wesley, a five-star edge rusher from Sierra Canyon High in Chatsworth, Calif., 6-5, 250, has committed to the Ducks.

His commitment breaks a drought in 2026 recruiting that featured four high-profile decommits and second-place finishes for players like quarterback Jared Curtis and Mater Dei wide receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt.

It gives the Ducks much-needed momentum going into the official visit season, with No. 1 offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell deciding Tuesday and Ryder Lyons making his official trip to Oregon on June 13, the same day 5-star CB Brandon Arrington, 5-star CB Elbert Hill, and 5-star S Jett Washington and 4-star Arizona cornerback Camren Hamiel visit.

There's nothing like a sack in the third quarter to change the momentum of a football game, and Wesley's plunge has that kind of impact for the Ducks.

Wesley is an impact player with a high motor, the No. 1 edge rusher in the country and a workout demon, No. 9 overall in the 2026 class.

His commitment gives Lanning an average-per-recruit of 4.25 (tops in the NCAA) and elevates the class to No. 8 in the country, well within striking range of the Top Five with that slew of visits in June.

Baseball takes series versus UW with 6-4 win

Mason Neville drove in three runs with his 25th home run and a double as Oregon dumped the Dawgs in PK Park Saturday afternoon.

The Ducks took a 2-0 lead in the series while winning their 10th game in 11 tries, dating back to Apri 20, a hot streak that included a four-game sweep of the Beavers.

They used another sharp performance by the bullpen to get the win. After starter Collin Clarke stumbled in the fifth inning to slip into a 4-4 tie, giving up a pair of home runs, Jacob Walsh cleared the fence with his 17th home run to get the Ducks back in the lead at 5-4.

Three relievers held the Huskies scoreless the rest of the way. Santiago Garcia pitched the 6th and 7th and retired one batter in the 8th while striking out four. Cole Stokes, a bullpen hero Friday night, got the last two outs of the inning on a strike out and a flyout.

Seth Mattox struck out two in the 9th, plunked a batter, then got a popout to short for the save.

A sensational fielding play by Jacob Walsh got the Ducks their second out in the 6th.

The Ducks conclude their last home stand of the regular season Sunday with a game at 12:05 p.m. PDT, going for a series sweep over UW. They travel to Iowa on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a chance to overtake the Hawkeyes for the regular season Big Ten Championship.

Iowa is in first at 21-6, UCLA second at 19-7, Oregon third, 18-8.
