Troy Franklin gets a career boost as Broncos trade away Vele
Pro Duck Troy Franklin moved closer to a regular role in the Denver Broncos offense Wednesday when the team traded away second-year receiver Devaughn Vele to the New Orleans Saints for a fourth and seventh-round draft pick.
Franklin becomes WR3 in the Denver attack, catching passes from former Oregon teammate Bo Nix. In last year's 10-7 campaign Vele was targeted 56 times and caught 41 passes for 475 yards and three touchdowns, third on the team behind veterans Courland Sutton and Marvin Mims.
As a rookie Franklin caught just 28 passes, but he's hauled in seven in two preseason games out of nine total targets. As a junior at Oregon in 2023 he grabbed 81 passes for 1,383 yards and 14 TDs.
After he erupted for four catches and 67 yards and two touchdowns against Arizona, head coach Sean Payton said, "He’s had a really good camp. He’s confident. I’ve said this a bunch of times, it has to happen on the field -- and you guys that have covered this team or any other team -- you see it in the preseason every year. Some players begin to make some plays, and it carries over. So that’s why these games are important."
I don’t know who needs to hear it—but Troy Franklin is going to be a top-3 WR for the Broncos this year. pic.twitter.com/LK9tIudiUm

Justin Herbert accompanies Madison Beer to photo shoot, sparking dating rumors
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback and MVP of the 2020 Rose Bowl Justin Herbert accompanied singer Madison Beer to a photo shoot in Los Angeles, sparking rumors that the two are dating.
According to a report from the New York Post, Herbert was photographed hanging out on the set with Beer introducing him to several members of the crew. The two were seen leaving together.
Herbert's in his sixth year in the league with the Chargers. He's thrown for 21,093 yards and 137 touchdowns. He's been notably private about his personal life and insists that the two are just friends.
From Jericho, New York, Beer's biggest hits include "Unbreakable" and "Make You Mine."
In 2023 Herbert signed a five-year contract extension worth $262.5 million with a $16.1 million signing bonus. Clearly he's not a broke boy.

Crazy stat on Dan Lanning over his first four seasons
In four years as Oregon head coach, Dan Lanning is 32-0 when allowing less than 33 points to the opponent, 35-6 overall, 25-0 against unranked teams, 19-1 in Autzen Stadium, all in his first four seasons as a head coach.
This is actually bananas, put some respect on this man's name https://t.co/irQsQWRtt9
