Any day the Ducks win and the Huskies lose is a good day

Oregon won the series opener in baseball Friday night in PK Park 5-0. Starter Grayson Grinsell pitched seven innings scoreless to run his record to 8-2.

The Ducks rallied for the four runs in the first inning, combining an RBI single by Jacob Walsh, another RBI single by Anson Arroz, a bases-loaded walk by Burke-Lee Mabeus to score three, then Carter Garate took a pitch in the back to plate another.

Pinch hitter Jeffery Heard belted a solo home run to right in the 7th.

Grinsell battled, throwing 121 pitches to baffle the Dawgs over his seven innings of work as Oregon's combative Friday night starter. Cole Stokes came on the pitch the 8th and struck out four in one inning-- Casen Taggart struck out swinging and reached on a passed ball.

Seth Mattox threw a 1-2-3 9th to close it out.

The two teams continue the series today at 2:05 in Eugene, TV on Big Ten+, radio on the Oregon Sports Network. With the win last night the Ducks reached 17-8 in Big Ten play, a game behind UCLA in second, three games behind Iowa at 21-6.
