Ducks tackle adversity in Fall Camp Week Two

A brotherhood grows strongest when it is tested.

Trey McNutt needed surgery for a broken leg. Evan Stewart is out after a ruptured patellar tendon this summer. Dan Lanning announced Tuesday that redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jurrion Dickey has been suspended after a series of incidents involving fighting with teammates and arguing with coaches.

Oregon started the season with one of the deepest and most talented rosters in college football, but the hits they just keep on coming.

Two weeks into Fall Camp, the progress and competition have been excellent, but you'd like the toll of adversity and bad news to slow down.

Dan Lanning was the website's pick for Coach of the Year. He'll need to be with some of the early challenges that have mounted up for the Ducks, picked No. 7 nationally in the AP Poll despite having just five returning starters.

Liberty run Sparks ragged at Staples Center, 105-97

Still down four players, Pro Duck Sabrina Ionescu and WNBA defending champion New York poured in a season-high 105 points as they bodied the Los Angeles Sparks to reach 21-11 on the season.

This time it was the frontline doing the damage for the New Yorkers. Rookie center Emma Meesseman continued her hot play with a career-high 24 points, while forwards Jonquel Jones and Leonie Fiebich dominated inside with 21 and 20 points, hitting a combined 15-21 from the floor.

Floor leader Ionescu contributed 14 points and six assists, 2-4 from 3-point range.
