Ducks close in on Jett Washington commitment

Sunday the Ducks got an On3 Sports prediction to land Jett Washington, the 6-4 safety from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, a four-star recruit ranked No.. 78 in the 2026 class and No. 5 at safety.

Washington visited Oregon on June 6th. He's listed at 6-5, 200 and rated five stars elsewhere. He helped the Gaels win a national championship in football with 37 tackles and two interceptions, then averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds as the basketball team won the 5A State Championship.

He's the nephew of Kobe Bryant. His mother Sharia, Bryant's sister, played all-conference volleyball at Temple. His father Jerrod played running back at Virginia, drafted by the New England Patriots in 1994.

A long, athletic safety would be a defensive linchpin for Oregon's 2026 class along with Ventura, California linebacker Tristan Phillips, who has been committed to the Ducks since December and is reportedly close to shutting down his recruitment.

The Ducks have already locked up a trio of dynamic offensive talents in tight end Kendre Harrison, running back Tradarian Ball and wide receiver Messiah Hampton. Even though the 2026 class is not yet large in numbers, the quality is outstanding. These are foundational players.

Josh Conerly impresses All-Pro teammate at minicamp

Five-time all-pro left tackle Laremy Tunsil offered effusive praise for first-round draft pick Josh Conerly of Oregon at Washington minicamp this weekend.

Tunsil told reporters, "You know who I'm really impressed with, though? JC [Conerly]," Tunsil said after Thursday's minicamp practice. "JC's gonna be a dog, and I'm not just saying that just to blow smoke up his (expletive)."

Picked 29th in the first round, Conerly started 28 straight games for the Ducks over two seasons while allowing just two sacks, All-Big-Ten first team as a junior. In May he signed a fully-guaranteed, four-year contract worth $15.68 million with an $8 million signing bonus.

Ducks wrap up a sizzling visit weekend

Top prospects on the Oregon campus this weekend included 5-star Alabama edge rusher Anthony Jones, 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, 4-star offensive tackle Tommy Tofi, 4-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot and 2027 tight end Rahzario Edwards.
