Evan Stewart shares update about his injury rehab on Instagram
Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart took to social media to share his progress as he works back from surgery after tearing his patellar tendon.
Stewart captioned his post on Instagram, "I mean God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers, am I right?" He confirmed that he tore his patellar tendon and the recovery time is three to twelve months.
The short video reel depicts his rehab process, treadmill, muscle stimulators and the like. "Mentally, it's just been long," Stewart said. "You hope that the recovery time is closer to three than 12 months."
Barkley Truax covered this story for On3 Sports.
A former five-star receiver from Liberty High School in Frisco, Texas, Stewart caught 48 passes last season for the Ducks, good for 613 yards and 5 touchdowns. In the win over Ohio State in October he grabbed seven for 149 and a touchdown.
With Traeshon Holden, Tez Johnson and Terrance Ferguson gone to the NFL he was being counted on to be wide receiver #1 for the Ducks, but now Dakorien Moore, Jeremiah McClellan, Gary Bryant Jr. and Malik Benson will have to share that role in what's likely to be an ensemble/committee approach to providing explosion in the offense.
Last season the Ducks were 17th in the country in scoring offense at 34.9 points per game, down from 44.2 points per game in 2023.

Another injury concern heading into fall camp is linebacker Devon Jackson. James Crepea of the Oregonian reports that he'll be limited to start fall camp. At Media Days Dan Lanning said that Jackson is already running 22 mph and should be full-go by the start of the season.
Tight end Roger Saleapaga and cornerback Jahlil Florence have recovered from their injuries and ready to go for practice. Saleapaga's progress is a good sign for the tight end room where depth is a little thin behind Kenyon Sadiq and Jamari Johnson. The four-star sophomore from Orem, Utah played in 11 games as true freshman, mostly on special teams.
