Former Oregon coach gets signature win
Mario Cristobal coached the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes to a 27-24 win over No. 6 Notre Dame Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium, the Hurricanes' first victory over a Top Ten team since 2017.
The Canes held Notre Dame's All-American running back Jerimyah Love to 10 carries for 33 yards and a long run of eight yards, no touchdowns. They held on at the end for the win despite 17 Irish points in the fourth quarter.
Cristobal told Bryan Fischer of Sports Illustrated, “That was a muddy and bloody night. I mean, all night, that thing was like Rock ’Em, Sock ’Em Robots.”
A spectacular catch by LSU and Liberty transfer CJ Daniels got Miami a 14-7 lead at halftime.

Ducks soccer drops frustrating match to Grand Canyon
Tracy Joyner's squad fell to 2-3-1 in the young season after their Sunday match against Grand Canyon at Pape Field. They attacked the net with 30 shots but lost 2-0.
Joyner told goducks.com's Rob Moseley, "That's probably one of the most unlucky second halves I've seen in maybe my coaching tenure, to be honest."
"… I felt bad because I thought our second-half effort was unbelievable. We looked really, really good and generated a lot of chances. But I've said I feel like now in every postgame interview, it's really hard to score goals. And that couldn't be more of a clear example."
Grand Canyon got two goals early and held on for the win, their keeper making 11 saves. Numerous Oregon shots went just wide or hit the post.
28 shots for the Ducks today.
