After finishing the regular season with a 40-11 record, the Oregon Ducks went into the Big Ten Tournament looking to secure their place as a top 16 team and a regional host. Entering the week as the 13th ranked team in the Country, the Ducks were quickly turned into spectators with an upset loss to Wisconsin, meaning that Oregon needed to hope for favorable results the rest of the weekend to host a regional.
No harm, no foul as Oregon earns a No. 1 seed
When the bracket was revealed, the Oregon Ducks earned a No. 4 seed meaning they're one of the 16 teams hosting a Regional. The Ducks earned the 14th overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Ducks first game of the NCAA Tournament will be on Friday at 7:00 PM PT against the 4th seeded Idaho State. The winner of the Ducks first game will face the winner of Mississippi State VS Saint Mary's while the losers will face each other.
If the Ducks are able to advance from the Regional Round, they'll face the winner of the Norman Regional. The Norman Region consists of Oklahoma, Binghampton, Kansas, and Michigan, with the Oklahoma Sooners earning the top seed. If Oklahoma holds serve and wins their region, the Ducks will head to Norman, but if any other school wins, the Ducks will host Super Regionals in Eugene.
Earning a top seed was key for the Ducks, and now they'll have a great chance to advance given that they're the home team. The bats have been solid for the Oregon Softball team, but if they're going to go on a deep run this postseason, they're going to need better pitching as it cost them in the Big Ten Tournament against the Wisconsin Badgers.
