It was big news when Oregon quarterback Dante Moore announced he was returning for at least one more season with the team. It was even bigger news when former Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola committed to transfer to play for the Ducks.
Then, Raiola announced he would wear the No. 8, the same jersey number that legendary quarterback and Heisman Trophy-winner Marcus Mariota wore while he was playing for Oregon.
Now, Oregon fans have finally let it settle at the bottom of their stomachs that they will see yet another quarterback wearing No. 8, after Dillon Gabriel also did for two years. This week, as spring practice unfolds, Duck fans have been able to see Raiola in Mariota's beloved number.

While he looks good in Mariota's number, he has a lot of work to do before he actually reaches Mariota's status in Eugene.
Over his freshman and sophomore seasons at Nebraska, Raiola amassed 4,819 passing yards for 31 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He lost 152 yards on the ground and never scored a rushing touchdown.
For comparison, during his three seasons at Oregon, Mariota averaged 3,598.7 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns per season. He threw just 14 interceptions over his entire collegiate career. On the ground? He earned 745.7 rushing yards and 9.7 touchdowns per year.
