Oregon football has the best odds to make the playoff in the country

Vegas thinks this is a virtual lock.

Oregon football controls its own destiny. That's a good spot to be.

After beating Ohio State last week, the Ducks rose to No. 2 in the polls and after Texas lost to Georgia, they jumped to No. 1. Oregon has gone from No. 3 in the preseason to No. 9 after a few weeks and back up to No. 1 after a crazy couple of weeks.

And Vegas is starting to take notice of Oregon's rise and the Ducks now have the best odds of any team in college football to make the playoff this year.

According to DraftKings, Oregon has the best odds of any team in the country to make the College Football Playoff at -2500. The next-closest team is Ohio State at -1200 followed by Texas (-1000) and Georgia (-1000) following Saturday's game. That's surprising to me since Georgia beat Texas soundly on the road and they both have the same odds.

The Ducks also have the best odds to win the Big Ten title (+130) just ahead of Ohio State (+145). As for winning the national title, Oregon is fourth at +500 behind Georgia (+360), Ohio State (+400), and Texas (+475).

What these odds are telling me is that Vegas believes that Oregon will win the Big Ten and Ohio State will end up making the playoff with them but the Buckeyes will go farther. It also thinks that the SEC is stronger than the Big Ten despite three teams in the top four nationally from the conference.

If you want to take a decent bet, take Oregon to win it all and you'll turn your $10 into $60 -- or any variation of that bet. Don't take this as advice but if you believe in Oregon, you could make some decent money if the Ducks win it all (finally).
