Winning cures all. Everyone knows that famous quote and it's true. You win, everything usually takes care of itself. Dan Lanning and Oregon football are finding that out firsthand.

The third-year head coach has led Oregon to an 11-0 start to the season and he's having plenty of success on the recruiting trail as a result. He not only has the No. 1 receiver in the country committed to his 2025 class, but he's gotten a nice start to the 2026 cycle and he may be closing in on another elite prospect in the near future.

According to Adam Gorney of Rivals, Oregon is "definitely the team to beat right now" for one of the best defensive back prospects in the nation.

Gorney did an update on where some of the top prospects in the nation stand in the class of 2026 and he highlighted four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin from Westlake Village, Calif. The top-100 recruit is being courted by essentially everyone out west, led by who many felt to be the leader before this article, USC.

However, Gorney stated that Oregon is definitely the team to beat for the 5-foot-11, 167-pound cornerback from California who holds 21 offers with the latest coming from Michigan, Arizona State, and LSU back in July.

Benjamin is currently ranked the No. 73 overall recruit in the 2026 class by Rivals but the 247Sports Composite has him listed even higher at No. 29.

Rivals had Benjamin listed as the No. 33 prospect in the country back in March but he's since dropped 40 spots while 247Sports is high on him, bordering him on five-star status.

We'll see if Oregon can close on one of the nation's top defensive backs but it looks like the Ducks are the current team to beat and winning the Big Ten and a national title will only help those hopes.
