Dan Lanning has transformed the Oregon Ducks from a good football program to one of the top teams in the nation in just three years. Now, the Ducks' head coach is getting a well-deserved pay raise.
On Thursday, March 6, it was announced that Lanning and Oregon had agreed on an amended contract, raising his annual salary by $2 million, which guarantees his annual guarantees to nearly $11 million a year.
Lanning, who is in his first-ever head coaching position, has led the Ducks to a 35-6 overall record through his first three seasons with the team. He led Oregon to a Big Ten title in the Ducks' first season in the conference and a No. 1 national ranking, as well as a berth in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoffs.
To put it lightly, it looks like Lanning is quickly leading the Ducks towards their first-ever National Championship. The pay raise reflects that success, making Lanning one of the top-five paid head coaches in the country.

Every single year, Oregon has improved under Lanning's leadership. His first season with the Ducks, they finished 10-3 overall. Then, in 2023, Oregon finished with a 12-2 overall record. Finally, in 2024, the Ducks finished 13-1 overall and were chosen as National Champions by multiple major selectors.
Oregon has secured two bowl game victories with Lanning as its head coach (2022 Holiday Bowl, 2024 Fiesta Bowl) and received a first-round bye in the 2025 College Football Playoffs after defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten Championship.
Lanning and the Ducks are looking to repeat, and expand upon, their success from the 2024 season as they kick off their 2025 campaign on Aug. 30 against the Montana State Bobcats.
