The Oregon Ducks have the No. 1 team in all of college football and the men's basketball team in Eugene isn't too shabby either. The Ducks basketball squad recently got a boost from the No. 12 team in the AP Poll to the No. 10 team in the country.
With the basketball team's boost in its ranking, the Ducks became one of just two collegiate programs with a top-ten football team and a top-ten basketball team. The other one? The Tennessee Volunteers who Oregon might face at the Rose Bowl Game in just a few weeks.
The football team had one of the best regular seasons in program history. For the first time ever, the Ducks are 13-0 as they head to the College Football Playoffs – the first-ever 12-team CFPs to be exact – and have a Big Ten title under their belt.
Meanwhile, the Oregon men's basketball team has started its season with a 10-1 overall record, its only loss coming to the UCLA Bruins on a buzzer-beater.
While football head coach Dan Lanning might not "care" about being the No. 1 team in the nation, it sure does look good for an athletic department to have two teams in the top 10 at the same time. Not to mention, the Oregon women's cross country team already took home a conference championship victory and the volleyball team made it to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to No. 1 Pittsburgh.
The Oregon men's basketball team will be back in action on Dec. 21 against the Stanford Cardinal. The No. 1 Ducks football team won't see the field until Jan. 1 when Lanning and his team will take on the winner of the Ohio State-Tennessee first-round matchup at the Rose Bowl.
