The main focus at this point in the college football calendar for every program has shifted to the recruiting trail. As we're in the middle of spring and summer practices, coaches across the country are pushing for commitments while also dishing out new offers. While the focus for Oregon is currently building up the 2027 recruiting class, coaches are also starting to build out their boards for the 2028 cycle.

Every commitment feels great for the fanbase, but there are some recruits you see that make you even more excited. On Tuesday Night, the Oregon coaching staff handed out an offer that every Ducks fan will hope turns into a commitment.

Oregon offers Ducks legacy recruit LaGarrette Blount Jr

Oregon fans were delighted on Tuesday Night when LaGarrette Blount Jr posted on social media that assistant head coach and running backs coach Rashaad Samples had offered the Ducks legacy a scholarship.

Seeing LaGarrette Blount Jr get to use a picture of his father to announce the offer is even more special to see. After his son shared the news, LaGarrette Blount Sr got to share just how proud of his son he was.

While his father was known for punishing potential tacklers, LaGarrette Blount Jr will look to make a name for himself on the other side of the equation. LaGarrett Blount Jr plays safety at Phoenix's Mountain Pointe which will likely be his best fit at the next level.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Blount Jr is a 3-star recruit ranked as the 578th best player in the country, the 48th ranked safety in the class, and the 14th ranked player out of Arizona.

While schools have started to recruit Blount as a safety, as his career progresses, that attention may flip to the other side of the ball as he's clearly a playmaker at wide receiver.

After starting his career at East Mississippi Community College, the famed school from Netflix's Last Chance U, LaGarrette Blount Sr had an impressive time at Oregon. In his first season with the Ducks, Blount rushed for 1,002 yards with 17 touchdowns, and if he hadn't missed most of the next season under suspension, he could've built a dynamic tandem with LaMichael James.

Following his time at Oregon, LaGarrette Blount Sr went on to have an impressive career in the NFL. After going undrafted, Blount was able to play for 9 seasons in the NFL with the Buccaneers, Patriots, Steelers, Eagles, and Lions.

In his lengthy career, Blount amassed 6,306 rushing yards and 454 receiving yards with 58 total touchdowns. Blount served a key role in winning three Super Bowls between his time in New England and Philadelphia.

As the younger Blount's career progresses, all Oregon fans will be paying close attention to see if he decides to continue the family legacy in Eugene.
