The Oregon Ducks' regular season ended not even a week ago, and both their offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator might have received head coaching jobs elsewhere. With the playoffs just around the corner, OC Will Stein was announced as the new head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. The Ducks' DC, Tosh Lupoi, has also reportedly landed a new job as head coach at Cal, but it has not been confirmed.
The "Dan Lanning Tree" continues to grow. If the talks between Cal and Lupoi go through, Lanning will now have 3 coordinators receive head coaching jobs. Kenny Dillingham became Arizona State's head coach a few years back, after being the OC at Oregon under Lanning. The Ducks' head coach has hit a home run on every hire, and fans should have plenty of confidence he will continue that trend.

The knee-jerk reaction for some Ducks fans has been panic. The playoffs are coming, and trying to make a run without your offensive and defensive coordinators is daunting. However, both Stein and Lupoi plan to coach the Ducks through the playoffs, similar to how Lanning did at Georgia while being hired in Oregon.
No need to panic as growth and promotion reflects program health and success
To others, losing both coordinators and having to find new ones is a negative thing. But the truth is, this is a great problem to have. This means that Oregon is a top program, producing talent not only on the field but also developing potential coaches. Both the OC and DC jobs at Oregon are extremely attractive, so Lanning will have no problems finding replacements.
This is going to happen again. It will likely happen a lot more under Lanning, because this is what happens to great programs. The turnover is something Duck's fans should be grateful for. If the trend continues, whoever Lanning hires will likely become a head coach at another school, and that is awesome.
