Dana Altman's Ducks reached 4-0 with an 87-75 win over Oregon State Monday night at Matthew Knight Arena.

The Big Three led the way. Senior center Nate Bittle scored 24 on 7-9 shooting with seven rebounds. Kwame Evans was the Windex Man, cleaning the glass for 14 rebounds and 16 points. Two months removed from his broken hand, junior shooting guard Jackson Shelstad hit 4-10 three-pointers and scored 22.

Takai Simpkins, the transfer combo guard from Elon, also found the touch from three, hitting 3-7 from distance on the way to 13. The four principal starters played long minutes, each logging more than 31.

Fast start, strong finish as Shelstad takes over in second half

The Ducks jumped out to an 11-0 lead over their old PAC-12 rivals. Bittle found Evans for a dunk. Shelstad fed Bittle for a 3-pointer. The refs sent Bittle to the line twice and he made all four free throws. They led 41-34 at the half.

Over the last 9:32 of the game, Shelstad took over, scoring 12 points after the Beavers closed within five at 65-60.

"We made some strides," UO coach Dana Altman said after the game. "It's a slow process, but (having) Jackson out there makes such a big difference."
