The biggest focus right now in the college football world is recruiting, as spring practices around the country are in the books. The Oregon Ducks have become one of the biggest powerhouses on the recruiting trail under Dan Lanning. Between Dan Lanning and his staff's ability as recruiters and the NIL advantages the Ducks have, Oregon makes fireworks on a yearly basis.

Heading into the Summer, one of the top priorities for the Ducks is adding wide receivers to this class. Given that Oregon holds a commitment from the top quarterback recruit in the class Will Mencl, it should be an easy pitch to the top receiving prospects to get on board.

Julian Caldwell picking Texas Tech is no worry for Dan Lanning

On Saturday, Oregon had a chance to land a 4-star wide receiver as the Ducks had a hat on the table for Julian Caldwell. Instead, the Texas native opted to stay home picking Texas Tech over Oregon and the Longhorns.

While landing a top 100 recruit like Julian Caldwell would've been great for the Ducks, in the end it's not a major blow for Oregon. Luring top recruits out of Texas is tough, especially with the power Texas Tech has shown as of late with their NIL and Revenue Sharing spending.

For Dan Lanning and the Ducks, there are still several top targets on the board that they can add as future targets for Will Mencl. 5-star wide receiver Xavier Sabb is still on the board, and the Ducks are well in the mix in a wide open race. Dakota Guerrant has been a top target for the staff the entire cycle, and they continue to try and beat Michigan for the Michigan native.

There's still plenty of time for Oregon to make a splash at wide receiver, and as the Summer continues, we'll likely see that splash sooner rather than later.
