The 2028 recruiting trail is starting to come into focus as the vast majority of the top recruits in the 2027 cycle came off the board during the Summer. In every recruiting cycle, the quarterbacks are the first to come off the board, and that trend is continuing into the 2028 cycle. Before the 2028 class begins their Junior season of High School, 5 of the top 10 recruits are already committed to programs.

The Ducks have been tied to plenty of quarterbacks in this cycle, and with targets like Christopher Vargas committed to Ohio State, and Donald Tabron II trending toward Texas A&M, the board is becoming clearer for the Ducks. While Josiah Boyd appears to be the Ducks' top target, it's always great to line up options.

Oregon named among top 12 for highly coveted 2028 QB Jamar Howard

Among the top quarterbacks in the 2028 recruiting class is California Native Jamar Howard who kept the Ducks in contention when he cut his list of schools in contention to 12.

When you look at the list of schools still in the mix for Jamar Howard, it's an absolutely loaded group that will make it a tough battle to win out in. A large portion of the schools in contention could quickly become top contenders if their new head coaches prove to be promising at developing quarterbacks.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Jamar "JJ" Howard is the 406th ranked player in the Country, the 27th ranked quarterback in the class, and the 29th ranked player out of California. The coaching staff has offered Howard, but he hasn't taken any visits except for one to Michigan, which will make this fall important.

The Ducks have been active with recruiting quarterbacks, offering 17 different recruits at the position. When the fall arrives, recruiting will only ramp up with gameday visits, and Howard will certainly be among the players to keep a close eye on in this cycle.
