The Official Visit portion of the Summer is over for the Oregon Ducks, and now the focus quickly shifts to securing commitments. While there’s a recruiting dead period in place through the end of July, Oregon is poised to start reeling in commitments now that players begin making decisions.
Coming into the Summer, Oregon clearly needed to go on a run to start building this class out. The 4 weekends of Official Visits have already resulted in 7 commitments, and the good news is that the end of this impressive run doesn’t appear to be in sight.
Oregon lands stunning prediction for cornerback Tae Walden Jr
During the final weekend of Official Visits, the focus was on players like 5-star wide receiver Xavier Sabb who the Ducks hoped to reel in. A recruit who many overlooked was elite cornerback Tae Walden Jr. It wasn’t a knock on Walden Jr or his talent, but it seemed that he was likely heading elsewhere.
On Thursday Morning, Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Oregon to land a commitment from Tae Walden Jr.
The timing couldn’t be better for Oregon given that Tae Walden Jr just set his commitment date for July 1st at Rivals’ Summer Signing Day event. Pairing the upcoming commitment date with the fact that the Ducks got the final visit from Walden, and the Ducks are in great shape.
July 1st could end up being an incredible day for the Oregon Ducks with this recruiting class. Top Oregon targets Gecova Doyal, Hayden Stepp, and Tae Walden Jr all will commit that day with the Ducks trending for the latter duo.
According to Rivals’ Industry Recruiting Rankings, Tae Walden Jr is the 69th ranked player in the Country, the 3rd ranked athlete in the class, and the 4th ranked player out of Tennessee.
If Oregon can reel in commitments from Hayden Stepp and Tae Walden Jr on July 1st, this defensive back class will be loaded. The two would join fellow Top 100 recruit Semaj Stanford who’s committed as a safety along with CB Josiah Molden and S Malakai Taufoou.
The recruiting board at cornerback looked grim coming into the Summer after Donte Wright chose Miami over Oregon along with Ai’King Hall flipping to Miami. Landing Hayden Stepp and Tae Walden Jr as a “pivot” would be an incredible win for the Ducks.
The goal for the Ducks now is closing out some of these big time recruiting battles as Oregon could quickly find itself ranked with a top 5 recruiting class with the way these top recruits are trending.
