Sunday wraps up the second weekend of official visits for the Oregon football program as Dan Lanning and the staff look to continue building out the 2027 recruiting class. While this weekend didn't bring a ton of high profile recruits to Eugene, there was still plenty to be excited about. This weekend was the type of official visits where the expectation is to reel in several commitments.
Overall, the first weekend of official visits provided mixed results for Dan Lanning and the staff. Oregon landed an elite recruit in linebacker Toa Satele giving the Ducks another top 100 recruit. The bad news is that two recruits in KJ Green and Drew Williams who Oregon made a strong impression on committed to LSU and Kentucky this weekend.
Leaving the weekend, Oregon looks to be in position to close out recruitments like they hoped coming into the offcial visits.
Oregon predicted to land exciting edge rusher out of Washington
Among the many recruits on campus this weekend was edge rusher Achilles Reyna out of the state of Washington. The Ducks were in a great position with Reyna coming into the weekend, and the hope was that the Ducks would close out the recruitment with a strong showing. After Reyna's visit, it looks like Oregon has done just that as Rivals' Steve Wiltfong, Max Torres, Brandon Huffman, and Greg Biggins are all predicting the Ducks to land a commitment.
Adding Achilles Reyna to this recruiting class would be a nice win for the Ducks, especially after another edge rusher target in KJ Green committed to LSU. The Ducks already hold a commitment from an edge rusher in Rashad Streets, but with Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti nearing the NFL, several edge rushers will be needed this offseason.
According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Achilles Reyna is the 909th ranked player in the country, the 78th ranked edge rusher in the class, and the 10th ranked player out of Washington. The Ducks are looking to land several players out of rival territory, and Reyna would mark a nice start to the haul.
Reyna comes from a football background as his father Jay Reyna played football for Washington State in the 1990's. This year was Reyna's first year playing football, and he's quickly become a highly sought after recruit with Power 4 schools rolling out offers this Spring.
Achilles Reyna isn’t the only recruit that the Oregon Ducks appear to be trending for after this weekend either. Along with the predictions for Reyna, Rivals’ recruiting insiders have also predicted the Ducks to land in-state targets George VanSandt and Malachi Garlington at tight end and wide receiver respectively.Â
