This weekend marked a pivotal weekend for the Oregon Ducks as Dan Lanning and the staff hosted their first set of weekend official visits. As prospects around the country begin taking official visits, schools will start to close out recruitments and start landing commitments. For the Oregon Ducks, as Dan Lanning currently holds the Nation's 9th ranked recruiting class, the program appears ready to go on a run to push toward a top 5 class.

Coming into the weekend, the hope for the Ducks was that they could pick up a commitment or two, keeping recruits from making the rest of their official visit. The good news for the Ducks is that it appears a commitment may be on the way.

Oregon receives several predictions to land elite LB Toa Satele

One of the biggest names on campus this weekend for the Ducks was elite linebacker recruit Toa Satele. Two weeks ago, the Hawaii Native released a final 4 including Oregon, Texas, Notre Dame, and Cal, but the Ducks got the first official visit of the finalists.

Leaving the weekend, it appears that the Oregon is in the driver's seat for Toa Satele as Rivals' Steve Wiltfong, Greg Biggins, and Brandon Huffman all logged predictions for the Ducks to win out.

Landing Toa Satele would be a major win for the Ducks in this recruiting cycle, especially if he commits without taking the rest of his official visits. Texas, Notre Dame, and Cal all have great pitches they can make, and if Satele takes his other visits it could sway this away from Oregon.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Toa Satele is a 4-star recruit ranked as the 68th ranked player in the country, the 4th ranked linebacker in the class, and the top player out of Hawaii. Satele comes with an NFL pedigree as his father Sampson, played for Hawaii before becoming a 2nd round pick by the Miami Dolphins.

When you watch Satele on film, he could either end up playing inside linebacker or move to an outside linebacker role as he continues to grow and develop. Satele has the movement skills and traits to excel in coverage while bringing great instincts to the position.

The Ducks have started to build a great class at linebacker, and adding Satele would give the unit a crown jewel. Satele would be joining 4-star LB Brandon Lockley Jr, along with 3-star LB Sam Ngata, which would make for an impressive haul. If Satele commits to the Ducks, the name to watch at linebacker will become Ohio native Brayton Feister, who the Ducks have been the favorite for throughout most of this cycle.
