Oregon’s pursuit of 5-star DT Kellen Hall takes major step forward with gameday visit set

The 2027 recruiting cycle has died down for the Oregon Ducks as 4-star linebacker Brayton Feister may be the final addition to the class, barring any flips. When you look at the class, it's another strong group for the Ducks, and it'll likely mark another top 5 signing class for Dan Lanning. If there's one knock you could have on the group it's that the Ducks only landed one interior defensive lineman.

Dan Lanning and the coaching staff were in on several of the top defensive tackles from Brayden Parks to Marcus Fakatou and Kasi Currie, but lost out in close battles. Moving into the 2028 recruiting cycle, Oregon is going to make defensive tackle a priority, and the Ducks are once again swinging for the fences.

Oregon's emerging as a top contender for the Nation's No. 2 recruit Kellen Hall

The 2028 recruiting board is starting to become clear for the Oregon Ducks as prospects start to dwindle down their recruitments to a handful of teams while setting gameday visits. Last week, the Nation's No. 2 ranked recruit Kellen Hall included Oregon in his top 12 list, but according to Rivals' Steve Wiltfong on "The Wilfong Whiparound" the Ducks are making a much bigger push.

"Kellen Hall might be their top overall target on the board because defensive tackle is going to be one of the biggest points of emphasis for Lanning and the Ducks in the 2028 cycle. They had Kellen Hall on campus once. He's dropped his top 12 last Friday. He's gonna drop his visits this coming Friday. I expect Oregon to be on that list. And he gushed about the opportunity to play for the Big 10 powerhouse. He's talked about them being in contention for the national championship."

On Friday Morning, Kellen Hall did drop his gameday visit list, and the Ducks will get to bat lead off in what will be a busy fall for the elite defensive lineman.

When Wilfong dove into why Oregon's in the conversation for Kellen Hall, it's clear that he's seen what the Ducks defensive front has done, and how he can fit into a similar role.

"He's been talking regularly with Dan Lanning. Tony Tuioti's done a great job recruiting him. He loves the versatility and the way that they utilize their defensive linemen across the front and give them an opportunity to make plays in a variety of ways. Oregon is a program to watch as they battle Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ohio State, to name a few others."

Winning out for Kellen Hall is going to be a hard battle for the Ducks, but these are the high level recruits the staff has battled for on a yearly basis, and the type of player that can instantly elevate the team. Oklahoma has emerged as the early front runner for Kellen Hall, but Oregon has plenty of time to chip away at that lead.

This season, Oregon's defensive line is loaded, and the development of the 4 veteran starters could end up being the best pitch to Kellen Hall. If A'Mauri Washington and Matayo Uiagalelei can end up becoming 1st round picks, it'll only add to Oregon's pitch as one of the best at developing defensive talent.

Getting Kellen Hall to campus for the season opener is a major first step, and his comments after the game will reveal just how much of a chance the Ducks have at winning out.
