The second weekend of official visits is about to kick off for the Oregon Ducks as recruits will start to arrive on campus on Friday. All things considered, the first weekend of official visits was a home run for the Ducks. Oregon has already landed a commitment from top 100 recruit Toa Satele at linebacker, and have started to trend for several other pieces.

This weekend has a chance to be another weekend filled with excitement given the recruits coming to campus. A player like in-state tight end George VanSandt could be on commit watch after decommitting from Arkansas, while several other prospects could end their recruitments sooner than expected, like Satele.

While there are plenty of recruits to be excited about, only one stands out as the top priority, and he has been for the Ducks for the majority of the recruiting cycle.

Dakota Guerrant coming to campus is a golden opportunity for Oregon

When the recruits arrive on campus, no one will garner more attention than elite wide receiver recruit Dakota Guerrant. While Oregon is after a ton of high-profile recruits, insiders like Rivals' Steve Wiltfong have declared that the Ducks have Guerrant as their top recruiting target regardless of position.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Guerrant is a 4-star recruit, ranked as the 43rd ranked player in the country, the 8th ranked wide receiver in the class, and the top player out of the state of Michigan.

The Harper Woods, Michigan native is among the most sought after recruits in the country, but this has seemingly come down to a duel between Oregon and the in-state Wolverines. Dakota Guerrant has been a frequent visitor in Ann Arbor, but he's also racked up several visits to Eugene. Rivals' Insiders have predicted the Ducks to win out, but until he commits and even signs it'll be a battle.

Getting Dakota Guerrant on campus this weekend is great timing for the Ducks, even if Will Mencl won't be on campus. Having Guerrant headline a weekend will make it clear how he's a top priority, rather than a weekend where the staff is trying to push for several 4-star and 5-star recruits. Add in that Oregon's carrying momentum from last weekend, and it should be easy to make an impression.

Will Mencl was just out at the Elite 11 finals talking about how much he wants Guerrant to commit to the Ducks and that message should still resonate.

This weekend will be all about trying to get Dakota Guerrant over the finish line, especially if he can commit and shut down his recruitment. Oregon hasn't landed a wide receiver commit to this point, and the Ducks aren't making a major push with many other recruits at the position. Getting Guerrant on board could really start a run for the Ducks, but even if he doesn't commit, this has to be a positive weekend for Oregon as the battle with Michigan will continue to rage on, potentially into the fall.
