The Big Ten Softball Tournament kicked off on Wednesday as teams seeded 5th through 12th played in the opening round. The Oregon Softball team had the day off as the stellar regular season allowed the team to earn the 2nd overall seed in the Big Ten Tournament. As the action kicked off in Maryland, Oregon was watching Wisconsin and Purdue to learn who they'd face on Thursday.

It looked like the 10th seeded Boilermakers were going to pull off the upset as they took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning. The 6th inning saw Wisconsin rally to tie the score, setting the game up for a wild finish. The Badgers put two runners on to start the inning before deploying a double steal to put both runners in scoring position.

Sophomore Hannah Conger delivered for the Badgers, walking the game off with a single to hold off elimination.

Oregon to face Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament

The matchup is now set for the Oregon Softball team as they'll kick off their tournament against the 7th-seeded Badgers. The game takes place on Thursday April 7th at 4:30 PM ET or 1:30 PT for the Ducks fans watching from the West Coast.

Winning a few games in the Big Ten Tournament is incredibly important for the Oregon Softball team and their hopes of winning a National Championship. Heading into the week, Oregon ranked 11th in ESPN and USA Softball's Top 25 rankings. The top 16 teams get to host regionals in the NCAA Tournament, while the top 8 will get to host Super Regionals if they're able to survive the weekend.

The Ducks and Badgers didn't get to face off this season during Big Ten play. The Badgers are currently 31-18 on the season with a 14-10 record in Big Ten play. Oregon enters the game with a stellar 40-11 record after going 20-4 in Big Ten play.
