On Sunday, Jan. 26, Oregon track star Jadyn Mays announced her NIL deal with Nike – a brand with close connections to the Ducks as co-founder and CEO Phil Knight attended Oregon for graduate school and has remained a strong supporter of the athletic department.
Mays, who sprints for the Oregon track team, took to social media to share her announcement and said, "So excited to share my NIL partnership with Nike! Blessed beyond measure and ready to keep going!"
Last season, Mays finished third in the 60-meter and third in the 200-meter at the NCAA Indoor Championships. At the NCAA Outdoor Championships, she finished fourth in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter.
When the U.S. Olympic Trails were held at Hayward Field following the conclusion of the collegiate season, Mays reached the semifinals of the 100-meter competition and reached the finals of the 200-meter competition, which she finished in eighth place.
As one of Oregon's premiere track stars, Mays has earned a personal best of 11.01 seconds in the 100-meter and 22.19 seconds in the 200-meter.
When Citius Mag, a track and field publication, shared Mays' NIL announcement on social media, the Duck replied saying "All praise to the most high! I'm so grateful."
The indoor and outdoor seasons will be Mays' final competitions as a Duck. She first came to Oregon in 2020 after an incredible high school career in which she was an 11-time Arizona state champion and won the 2019 Gatorade State Girls’ Track and Field Player of the Year.
While the track and field team is still in the middle of its outdoor season, things are already ramping up for another outdoor season at Hayward Field. In less than two months, the Ducks will host their first home meet of the season when the Oregon Preview kicks off on March 21.
