The main focus for the Oregon Football team ahead of a pivotal season is currently building for the future. This time in the college football offseason becomes pivotal for recruiting, especially with the elimination of the spring Transfer Portal window, as official visits can make or break a recruitment. The Summer is shaping up to be an exciting period for Dan Lanning and his staff as the Ducks have a loaded schedule.

As things currently stand, Oregon holds the Nation's 9th ranked recruiting class with 13 players already committed. Dan Lanning and his staff have made a tradition out of signing classes ranked in the top 5, and if the Ducks are going to do it again, this summer will need to be filled with fireworks.

Unofficial Visit lands Oregon in final 5 for elite edge rusher KJ Green

This past weekend, the Ducks brought a loaded group of recruits to campus for unofficial visits as Dan Lanning and the staff look to build out the class. Arguably the biggest name on campus was elite edge rusher recruit KJ Green.

It appears that getting KJ Green on campus for the unofficial visit was a major win for the Oregon Ducks, as KJ Green now has five finalists, including the Ducks, who land an official visit from May 29th through the 31st.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, KJ Green is the Nation's 48th ranked player, the 8th ranked edge rusher in the class, and the 3rd ranked player out of Georgia, while 24/7 Sports ranks Green as the 8th ranked player in the Country.

As things currently stand, KJ Green's recruitment looks wide open, which could be great news for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. Beating out Kirby Smart for a 5-star edge rusher from Georgia will never be easy, while South Carolina has been a staple at the top of the Gamecocks' recruitment. Official Visits could end up deciding Green's recruitment, and getting Green back on campus so quickly could be pivotal.

Being in a final 5 with all SEC schools says a lot about where Oregon is viewed with their recent success developing defensive linemen.

This past season, KJ Green finished his season at Stephenson with 129 total tackles, 18 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. When you watch KJ Green play at the High School level, he brings an impressive level of physicality while having the speed to beat college offensive tackles. Green has also been deployed from a variety of alignments which will only help him transition to the college level.

Landing KJ Green would make this a truly elite defensive line class for Oregon to help replace some of the talent that will leave for the NFL. Rashad Streets is already committed as a top 50 recruit who could finish the cycle as a 5-star recruit. Add in interior defensive linemen in Zane Rowe and Cam Pritchett, and this group could end up being one of the best classes in the country in the trenches.
