Dillon Gabriel and the Ducks will be back in action after a short week, facing Purdue on Friday night in West Lafayette. While it may not seem like it on paper, the Oregon vs. Purdue game will be intriguing considering the Boilermakers have an affinity for upsetting top-five teams while being massive underdogs.
This year's Purdue team may not quite be like the Spoilermakers of the past when Jeff Brohm was still in town, but there may still be some magic left over from the old coach.
Dan Lanning isn't going to let his team overlook the Boilermakers, however, as he knows they have been known to pull off some massive upsets here and there. Plus, he knows just how close his team was to losing to Boise State in Week 2 so they aren't immune to upsets.
If you're looking to bet on Friday night's game, there will be plenty of interesting props, but let's get down to the basics first.
Here's the final line as of Friday afternoon via DraftKings.
Line: Oregon -30
Over/Under: 61
Moneyline: Oregon -6500 | Purdue +2000
And here are some of my favorite props for the game:
Jordan James 2+ TDs (-120)
Dillon Gabriel 300+ passing yards (+100)
Jordan James 120+ rushing yards (+100)
Evan Stewart 50+ receiving (-170)
Traeshon Holden 40+ receiving yards (+125)
So what do I think is going to happen on Friday night?
I think the Ducks will start out quickly and Purdue will fight back a bit. The game will be tighter than expected at halftime before the Ducks pull away in the second half thanks to a huge Dillon Gabriel performance.
Prediction: Oregon 45, Purdue 14
