Six steals, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers by senior forward Mia Jacobs paced the Oregon Women's basketball team to a 70-34 win over Utah State at Matthew Knight Arena Sunday, running their season record to 6-0.
Led by the transfer from Fresno State and Perth, Australia the Ducks stepped it up on defense, clamping down on the Aggies and holding them to 20 in the first half and 14 in the second, a swarming effort that resulted in 29 USU turnovers and 18 steals.
Floor leader Katie Fiso scored a game-high 13 points with six rebounds and six assists as freshman Janiyah Williams chipped in 12 off the bench, including 2-5 from three. From Edmond, Oklahoma, Williams had 16 double doubles as a high school senior, a four-star recruit with over 1,000 career points as a prep.

Depth, open-court savvy and tenacious defense spark 6-0 start
“We really challenged Mia Jacobs defensively,” head coach Kelly Graves said to Max Koebel of the Oregon Daily Emerald. “And she showed up tonight. You could tell that was a priority for her. She took the challenge, got better, and we were better for it.”
It's a busy week for Graves' squad as they have games Tuesday and Thursday at the Hoopfest Women's Challenge in Frisco, Texas versus St. Mary's and Old Dominion. On Sunday they travei to Auburn, Alabama to take on the Tigers, also undefeated and 6-0 in the young season.
