In his first four seasons as Oregon head coach, Dan Lanning sent 31 players to the NFL draft. In the four years previous to his arrival, the Ducks had just 14.
Oregon has had a first rounder in each of the last seven seasons, including a school record-tying two in 2025 and 2026 (Derrick Harmon and Josh Conerly; Kenyon Sadiq and Dillon Thieneman.)
This week Pro Football Focus released its first mock draft for 2027, and Lanning and the Ducks are set to smash all previous records. with an astounding five players projected for the first day, a level of NFL talent that rivals former national champion teams at Georgia and Ohio State.

NFL talent is one of the surest indicators of true national championship potential. The Ducks are likely to have as many as 10 to 13 players taken next year, and in addition to these five, Evan Stewart and Bear Alexander could play their way into the first round with stellar senior seasons.
Then there is the trio of sensational sophomores, Brandon Finney, Jordon Davison, and Dakorien Moore, that are a year away from draft eligibility.
The draft projections suggest clearly that this is the year. With an experienced quarterback and an explosive trio of receivers in Stewart, Moore and Jeremiah McClellan, the nation's best pass-catching tight end in Jamari Johnson and what looks to be a stifling defense, Lanning has amassed the roster talent to win it all.
It's a roster with depth, balance and star power, and they're training with a bit of an edge and a bitter taste after a blowout playoff loss at the Peach Bowl. In 2026, they're the team of destiny, perhaps on a collision course with Mario Cristobal and Miami or Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame, after the Irish were snubbed for the playoffs last year.
