Bucky Irving scores his first NFL TD vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Video)
First-year running backs not taken in the first couple of rounds of the NFL draft don't often have immediate impacts, but Bucky Irving isn't just any rookie.
The former Oregon star was leading all rookie rushers through the first three weeks of the season and Todd Bowles said that he was going to give Irving more carries moving forward and he did just that on Sunday afternoon, carrying the ball a career-high 10 times for 49 yards.
On top of the career-high in touches, Irving scored his first NFL touchdown against the Eagles.
The first touchdown for Irving was put on hold, however, as he thought he crossed the goal-line the play before and even celebrated as it was called a touchdown on the field, but it was reviewed and he was ruled inches short and he was forced to come back out. While some thought Rachaad White might come out and just rush it in, Bowles wanted to give his rookie another crack.
The Duck rookie took the ball outside on a pitch and scored with ease, leaving no doubt this time.
Irving has had an impressive start to his rookie season after being selected in the fourth round by the Buccaneers and he wasn't even expected to have much of an impact as White's backup. He's starting to look like the starter through four games and he's over 200 yards on the season with his first touchdown scored on Sunday.
It's been cool to see Irving break out with the Buccaneers and earn a split-carry role with White.
