Dan Fouts and 9 other greatest NFL careers in Oregon football history
By Sam Fariss
Splitting his NFL career between the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers, Russ Francis caught a total of 393 passes in his 15 years in the league.
Francis caught for 5,262 receiving yards and scored 40 touchdowns in his professional tenure. He was also a 3-time Pro Bowl selection.
Most notably, Francis was a part of the Super Bowl XIX-winning Niners team in 1985. He caught five receptions for 60 yards against the Dolphins in San Francisco’s 38-16 victory.
Beyond his time in the NFL, Francis was also a professional wrestler. He took part in Wrestlemania 2 as well as briefly competing in the American Wrestling Association.
While his time with the Patriots didn’t lead to an additional ring, he played in nearly 100 games for New England and contributed quite a few touchdowns in his time with the team.
