After the 68 teams are announced for the NCAA Tournament, 32 teams are invited to the National Invitation Tournament, the NIT.

These teams are those who just missed the cut for the big show but still had a good enough season to earn the chance at a title.

The NIT starts on March 19 with the First Round lasting for two days. The rounds then last until the beginning of April. The tournament’s championship game is at 4 p.m. PT at the Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN.

With both the NCAA Tournament and NIT starting on March 19, fans will have the chance to watch hours of basketball per day. Even if your team doesn’t go dancing in March, you may be able to see them play for a chance at the NIT trophy.

The Oregon Ducks have played in the NIT three times over the last ten years. They are currently on the Bubble Watch, currently just a few games short of punching their ticket to the NCAA.

If the Ducks are able to win out for the rest of the season or have a highly successful run at the Pac-12 Tournament, they may be able to go dancing for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

Over the past ten years, the deepest the Ducks have gone in either bracket was the Final Four of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
