Can you feel that? It's the palpable excitement in the air for the start of the 2024 Oregon football season. The Ducks are ranked No. 3 in the country and there are even some well-known college football experts who believe that they're going to win the national title.

Dan Lanning has built himself quite the squad.

Dillon Gabriel leads the No. 2 transfer class and the Ducks are also bringing in a top-five recruiting class as well as returning one of the top defenses in the nation. Oh, and the weapons on offense are tremendous which means that Gabriel should have no problem meeting expectations.

So with the 2024 season about to kick off on Saturday evening, let's take a look at everything you need to know for the much-anticipated Idaho game.

If you're heading to Eugene on Saturday evening or if you have betting interests on the line, the weather is probably fairly important to you. It's going to be a scorcher right around kickoff on Saturday with the high of the day hitting 91 degrees about 30 minutes after kick. There won't be any clouds and the precipitation chances are at zero percent. The winds will also be at just 8 mph.

Series history for Oregon football vs. Idaho

Since 1970, Oregon and Idaho have only faced each other four times and the Ducks have won each meeting with the closest being a 42-13 game back in 2000. The last time these two teams met was back in 2004 so it's been 20 years. Oregon leads the all-time series 52-3-4 and it's on a 23-game winning streak dating back to 1950.

Prediction

While I don't think Idaho is a cakewalk, by any means, I do believe that this game should be fairly comfortably won by the Ducks. Dillon Gabriel is going to show off in his first home game as a Duck and he'll ensure that he won't have to play much in the second half. Oregon puts up a 50-burger and wins big to open the 2024 season.
