Is Matthew Bedford playing for Oregon football vs. UCLA?
It's been an interesting season so far for Oregon football but the Ducks are looking to generate some momentum this weekend at UCLA.
After a bye in Week 4, the 3-0 Ducks are looking to come out refreshed and hit the reset button on the 2024 season. They won their first two games against Idaho and Boise State by just a combined 13 points before going into Corvallis in Week 3 to beat rival Oregon State 49-14.
Oregon gained positive momentum before the bye, but the Ducks need to build on that in Week 5.
In order for Oregon to bounce back and play to its potential this season, it's going to need some help in the trenches. That's been the main weakness for the Ducks through its first three games but there could soon be help on the way in the form of Indiana transfer Matthew Bedford who has been battling an injury leading up to the season and through the first four weeks.
So will we see Bedford on Saturday night in Pasadena?
According to an update from Dan Lanning earlier this week, it doesn't sound promising. The veteran offensive lineman was practicing this week and got "dinged up" which may signal a setback. That's not exactly what Oregon fans want to hear. Heck, that's not what Dillon Gabriel wants to hear.
This is an unfortunate update and I would say he's probably "doubtful" for Saturday's game against the Bruins but I don't think this game will be as important for him to return as next week's against Michigan State who just so happens to be the Big Ten's sack leader.
