One of the most anticipated games of the college football season finally has an announced start time, despite not being announced through the Big Ten. It will be a prime time ET kickoff on NBC for Ohio State and Oregon football on Oct. 12.
On Tuesday, FOX College Football Analyst Joe Klatt made it part of his conversation with Colin Cowherd. As NBC also has Stanford and Notre Dame the same day, the afternoon 4:30 p.m. PT slot was the only one remaining. Klatt said, "NBC has that one."
It's a game that is worthy of a primetime slot.
It will be a matchup of likely two top-five teams in the country.
Dan Lanning is entering his third season at the helm for the Ducks and the team continues to be among the top recruiting classes this year, and also into 2025. Despite quarterback Bo Nix departing for the Denver Broncos, Lanning has found a way to replace him with Dillon Gabriel who had similar numbers last season when he was at Oklahoma.
The Ducks will also welcome back former head coach Chip Kelly, who is now with the Buckeyes. Kelly played a key role in the Ducks success between 2007 and 2012 leading the team to a BCS Bowl berth in 2012 before he made the jump to the NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. He had a brief stop in San Francisco and also spent time with ESPN and at UCLA where he coached from 2018-2024 before heading to Columbus.
Oregon now has announced game times for seven of its 12 games this season including the season opener against Idaho (4:30 p.m. PT on the Big Ten Network), and Boise State (7 p.m. PT on Peacock).
Again, Oregon and Ohio State will meet inside Autzen Stadium on Oct. 12th at 4:30 p.m. PT on NBC.
