Oregon baseball announces throwback unis to honor 1954 College World Series team
By Sam Fariss
Whether it's football, basketball, baseball, or another team, the Ducks are known for their endless array of uniforms.
Earlier this year, Oregon unveiled new unis for its baseball team and recently announced a new addition to the rotation. On Thursday, GoDucks announced that the team will wear throwback uniforms to pay homage to the 1954 College World Series team.
1954 saw Oregon’s only appearance in the CWS in program history. This season is the 70th anniversary of the team’s historic run.
Oregon is hosting Lafayette in a four-game series this weekend and the throwback unis will be worn for the series finale on Sunday.
This uniform combination will be featured throughout the season for Duck home games.
The Ducks will play the Lafayette Leopards on Friday evening, a doubleheader on Saturday, and the finale on Sunday. Kevin Setter is listed as the opening pitcher for the Ducks on Sunday.
This is the first time Oregon and Lafayette have ever played each other.
Oregon is currently 2-1 after playing in the Shriners Children’s College Showdown, defeating Oklahoma and Baylor but losing to No. 18 Texas Tech.
Lafayette is 0-3 after being swept by East Tennessee State on the road. The Leopards were outscored 13-55 through the three games.
