Oregon Ducks Baseball standout Brock Moore was the first Oregon baseball player picked up in the 2024 MLB Draft and with that selection it seems like he might have something of a shot of continuing his baseball playing career out on the West Coast. That’s because the Seattle Mariners managed to pick Moore up in the seventh round of the 2024 MLB Draft.
Standing at an imposing 6-foot-6 and weighing 230 pounds, Moore made a tangible impact during his final season of college baseball with the Ducks. The right-handed pitcher from Carmel, Indiana became a very valuable member of Oregon’s pitching staff and he managed to compile a 4-1 record despite only making one start on the mound for the Ducks this season.
Through 31 innings pitched, Moore managed to strike out an astonishing 52 opposing batters. His ERA is a bit high at 5.81, but he’s showing some impressive potential that clearly the Mariners seem to be intrigued by.
Opposing batters only managed to compile a .241 batting average when facing Moore. Which is probably higher than you want your opponents to be hitting against you, but it’s still really solid and further development could help Moore improve further.
Oregon Ducks baseball: Brock Moore picked by Seattle Mariners in seventh round of 2024 MLB Draft
Before he made his way to Eugene to play for the Oregon Ducks baseball team, Moore managed to travel around a bit. Moore's college baseball journey began in Illinois at Danville Area Community College and then continued on to California with Menlo College.
The Ducks gave Moore a shot to compete against some of the best in college baseball and he made the most of that opportunity. Now he’s getting a shot to continue his baseball career on. As the official Oregon baseball press release notes, Moore is now the fifth Duck to ever get drafted by the Seattle Mariners. And he was the first of five Oregon baseball players to get picked up in the 2024 MLB Draft.
