Arik Armstead, a pivotal member of the San Francisco 49ers defensive line, helped his team hold the Kansas City Chiefs to just one field goal in the first half.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs failed to get into the endzone in the first two quarters and as they inched closer to their first touchdown, Armstead came charging through their offensive line.
Armstead, a former Oregon Duck, plowed through to sack Mahomes for a 1-yard loss.
This defensive hold led to Kansas City settling for a field goal. The Niners entered halftime with a seven-point lead over the Chiefs.
Heading into the locker room, San Francisco was ahead 10-3.
