Getting to know the Idaho Vandals

Oregon football fans, if you’re not currently familiar with the Ducks’ first foe of the 2024 Oregon football season, here’s a great chance to get to know them a bit. Here’s a brief overview of the Idaho Vandals:

Idaho head football coach: Jason Eck

Going into the 2024 college football season, Jason Eck is now heading into his third season in Moscow, Idaho. Over his first couple of seasons with the Vandals, Eck has demonstrated that he can get the Idaho football program moving in the right direction as they’re 16-9 under his leadership.

Idaho Vandals historical win-loss record

There’s a lot of Idaho football history, but not all of it is all that great. The Idaho Vandals have been playing football since 1893, but through their 2023 season, the Vandals all-time record currently sits at 460-614-26 (which comes out to a .430 win percentage). So, the overall win-loss record isn’t all that great, but this team has seen periods of success.

2023 Idaho football record

Last season is a pretty decent example of that. The Vandals made it back to the FCS playoffs and beat Southern Illinois in the second round to advance to the FCS quarterfinals before falling to Albany in a closely contested game. And as a result, Idaho ended the season at 9-4.

Conference: Big Sky

Idaho has played at a few different levels and in a few different conferences. Right now, the Vandals currently compete in the Big Sky Conference, which they rejoined in 2018 after they got tired of struggling in the FBS.

Location: Moscow, Idaho

The University of Idaho plays its home games in the Kibbie Dome and is located in Moscow, Idaho, a small city in the state of Idaho that boasts a population of around 25,000. The campus isn’t all that far from Washington State University.
